5 fascinating videos of foreigners singing Filipino songs

A K-pop band recently released a music video cover of Daniel Padilla’s hit single “Nasa ‘Yo Na Ang Lahat.”

While not everyone may find DPad’s song to be their cup of tea, you have to admit there’s something fascinating about watching foreigners speak, or in this case sing, in our native tongue.

That said, here are five interesting Youtube videos of foreigners singing OPM.

Pretty Russian sings Tagalog rap song Sirena by Gloc9

Model-singer Anna Rabtsun, who is married to a Filipino, has more than 6,000 subscribers on her Youtube channel. She describes herself as a “simple Russian Girl who loves to sing Tagalog songs.” Prepare to be mesmerized.

Buloy

Youtube user xxxthundrrbltxx posted this Parokya ni Edgar cover in 2008. The video comes with a warning: “Watch as I attempt to sing ‘Buloy’ very badly.” Heed it or you’ll miss out on four minutes of great entertainment.

Jeremy sings Mr. Suave

Jeremy’s professionally shot music video puts most Youtube covers to shame. In a fake mustache-pomada-and-Barong Tagalog ensemble, watch Jeremy perform a very suave rendition of Parokya ni Edgar’s “Mr. Suave.”

American sings Pusong Bato in Tagalog

“It’s funny what men will do for the love of a Filipino woman!” says the description of Joseph Collins’ “Pusong Bato” cover. Forward to 2:04 to see Joseph dedicate a message to his wife. This man clearly doesn’t have a heart of stone.

American covers Halik by Aegis

Aegis is a band whose discography is replete with choice karaoke songs. A score of 81 doesn’t live up to this guy’s (probably drunk) rendition of “Halik.” But you’ll still applaud him for his excellent showmanship.
